This site began with a simple idea: I wanted somewhere to write that was not trying to sell anything.
Mostly, this is for me and for my family. I want a place to keep the things that otherwise disappear—a story told once at dinner, a lesson learned the expensive way, a photograph that needs context, a thought from a long drive, a memory from the ranch, or a letter that deserves to exist somewhere more durable than an inbox.
I do not know what this collection will become. That is part of the point.
The working idea is stewardship: to take seriously what has been entrusted to me and, as much as I can, leave it better than I found it.
So these are field notes. Some will be polished. Some probably will not be. The goal is not to sound important. The goal is to keep an honest record.
If someone I love finds this years from now, I hope it helps them know me a little better.
